Earlier this month, rumors circulated that OnePlus was likely to halt production of its popular OnePlus 3 flagship product in order to focus on a new and more advanced model . Confirmation of these reports has now appeared: a company designer has shared a post from a device identified as the OnePlus 3T on the Weibo Chinese social network (the post has already been deleted).
T is for Turbo
The post indicates that OnePlus is likely to announce a new device that will probably be called T3 (model number A3010). The smartphone, which has already passed the Chinese federal communications commission (equivalent to the FCC in the US) will apparently arrive with upgraded technical specs, in comparison with the current model. When the OnePlus 3 was launched last June , the strongest processor on the market was the Snapdragon 820, with a speed of 2.15 GHz. Now, however, the Snapdragon 821 (2.4 GHz) is the default option, and has become the standard for flagship devices. It is generally believed that OnePlus does not like being left behind, and is therefore now considering a new device containing the new processor.
It is also rumored that the OnePlus 3T device will have an LCD screen. However, company founder Carl Pei quickly issued a soothing post on his Twitter account saying that the company would retain the AMOLED screens.
OnePlus will be staying with Optic AMOLED displays for the foreseeable future.

The reason for the rumors was the difficulty experienced by the Chinese manufacturer in meeting the orders, leading to delays in the supply of the devices to customers (the screens are expensive and difficult to obtain). With the exception of the outdated processor, the current OnePlus 3 comes with really generous technical specs, including 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of built-in storage space. The device also has a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with 1080p and 401PPi, a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera, and a fingerprint reader on the home button that opens the device within 0.2 seconds. OnePlus chose to include in the device a strong battery with 3,000 mAh capacity and a high-speed charger (60% battery within half an hour). It comes with an Oxygen OS operating system and the UI interface developed by the company, based on the Android Marshmallow. Following another even more necessary upgrade of the device, for the first time it can be bought without the tiresome ordering system.
There is no assurance that one more device in the company’s mid-season catalogue will help expedite the supply of the devices, but we will in any case keep you informed if the rumors turn out to be true.
