Tech.eu is partnering with a new pitching event called IoT Stars, which will take place on Monday, March 2 during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Internet of Things startups can still apply!
In about a month, the annual madness that is the Mobile World Congress will hit Barcelona, but as usual the more interesting events (IMHO etc.) will take place elsewhere in the city.
Obviously focused on IoT aka the ‘Internet of Things’, it’s essentially a new, high-level startup competition, which will see 10 startups pitching in front of an impressive jury at the iconic
Tower in Barcelona (pictured above) on Monday, March 2.
For IoT startups, it will be a unique opportunity to meet and network with C-level industry leaders, entrepreneurs, designers, developers, investors, press & media working in the global Internet of Things ecosystem. Up to 400 people are expected to attend, according to the organisers.
Interested startups can apply here (deadline: Wednesday, February 4th at midnight PST).
Names to know
Five early-stage and five Series A-funded startups will be selected by the jury online and announced on the event website on Tuesday, February 10th. Apart from yours truly, the jury includes:
– Bill Pearson, Director, Internet of Things Developer Programs at Intel
– Benedict Evans, VC at Andreessen Horowitz
– Anastassia Emmanuel, UK Hardware, Technology & Design lead at Indiegogo
– Cedric Giorgi, Head of Startup Relations at SIGFOX
– Rob van Kranenburg, Founder, IoT Council
– Kwame Ferreira, Founder and CEO, Kwamecorp
The event is organised by thethings.io founder Marc Pous, who is behind the IoT Meetups in Barcelona and Munich, and Rudy De Waele from shift2020.com, a collaborative knowledge platform investigating the digital transformations in business and society.
De Waele in particular has an extensive track record in organizing high-profile events in technology including Mobile Monday, Mobile 2.0, Mobile Premier Awards, AppCircus and Mobile Sunday.
