The Finnish startup gets a €200,000 investment to grow its “Share the Moment” interactive TV application
The maker of a service called “Share the Moment,” which allows for the sharing of just-seen TV moments on social media, announced the funding on April 3.
“It has been quite a journey for our company to understand the interest and needs of TV viewers and translate that into a service which can be offered across the TV industry,” Tellyo’s co-founder and CEO Kimmo Koivisto, said in a statement. “With this investment and GS Group`s support and expertise we can now accelerate our mission in creating the easiest way to share TV Moments as well as drive and monetize social engagement around TV.”

Share the Moment allows users to share video clips of TV moments with friends on Facebook and Twitter by using a second screen device. Share the Moment has been tested on nine TV shows such as Big Brother and MasterChef in three countries. Shared clips from Finnish MTV show “Comedy Combat” have reached two million Facebook users and 100,000 likes. The company said its service amplifies audience engagement and provides additional revenue for broadcasters.
Tellyo was founded in 2012 by Justyna Kowalska, Kimmo Koivisto, Mariusz Ostoja-Świerczyński and Jakub Majkowski. Headquartered in Helsinki, it also has offices in London and Lodz. Its goal is to make TV more interactive and engaging
Based in St. Petersburg, Russia, with international offices in Zug, Switzerland, GS Group is an investment fund that focuses on telecommunications. It said it intends to use Tellyo’s services across its expanding network of operators.
