Geektime is growing and looking for new geeks who want to be part of the next big thing

2013 was a great year for Geektime and 2014 hit a global milestone for us. We’re continuing to grow and we’re now looking for people who want to be part of Israel’s leading technology blog, and soon the whole world. If you have technology flowing in your blood, if you eat startup news for breakfast keep track of everything happening in the industry, maybe you’re the one we’re looking for.

Web developer – Full time

Geektime today is a leading tech blog within Israel but we’re thinking of getting even bigger and we know you want us to be a lot more too; to expand our community and the services we provide. Equally important is the continued and increased exposure of the Israeli tech community – their products & services, to the world. Last year we launched the international edition of Geektime and it’s gaining momentum in a hurry.

We can build on all the things and we want special people to come be a part of it. We need a very special geek and guru of design/ UI, web development ninja and Rockstar of WordPress. If you want to take the opportunity to be part of the next big thing from Geektime, to change the world of startups in Israel and across the global community, this could very well be the job for you.

As part of your role, you will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the Israeli version and the international version of Geektime’s websites, the design and development of parts and new features on the site and planning upcoming products. The role is primarily Hands-On and requires a free thinking independent personality but it also requires team-work and the ability to work with various parties inside and outside of the company. As everyone knows, we’re a slightly different kind of startup with character and a pace all our own. If you think you’re suitable here are the requirements:

Requirements:

  • Full mastery (technical level) of graphics software: Illustrator | Photoshop | Indesign.

  • Knowledge cutting Slicing) HTML) from Psd files.

  • Full control of HTML, CSS – tables and div’s, building forms.

  • Knowledge and proven experience in developing websites in PHP.

  • Proven knowledge and experience in development – on WordPress platform – Development Plugins, templates and so on.

  • Knowledge of platform building for different devices (Responsive).

  • Familiarity with Ajax, Javascript, Jquery.

  • Knowledge and ability to work with HTML5.

  • Proven experience in developing web interfaces, newsletters, banners, mini-sites.

  • Familiarity with platforms and other development languages ​​- Ruby, Django, Python – a significant advantage.

  • Willingness to work outside normal working hours.

Technology Writer – English – Full time

We’re looking for the geek to help us conquer the world. If you‘re a native English speaker (not merely mother tongue ‘level’ but a bonafide, mother tongue raised, English speaker), if you know the startup scene in Israel Inside-Out, if you enjoy writing, maybe you’re the one to help us make the international edition of Geektime the next big thing in startups.

The English writer will be responsible for covering the ever developing world of startups in Israel and abroad for the international version of Geektime (in English, of course), along with collaborating closely with the hebrew site team, translating articles from Hebrew to English (and vice versa), on location coverage of important events in technology and startups in Israel and the world, the analysis of start-ups and more. Geeks, we are looking for help to write the script for the next big thing in the world of startups, with all that entails.

Requirements:

  • Technology, startups and entrepreneurship is not something that only interest you, it’s something you live.

  • Technology job background an advantage.

  • English mother tongue speaker – a must.

  • Hebrew at mother tongue level – a must.

  • Previous experience writing and editing in English – obligatory.

  • Ability to manage a team.

  • Available for full-time job in Ramat Hachayal, Tel Aviv.

  • Willingness to work outside normal working hours.

Technology Writer – Hebrew – Full time

In love with gadgets? Familiar with Facebook inside/out? Do you try all the new apps coming out for the iPhone or Android and want to know the world of startups like your own family? If you answered yes to any of these and you also enjoy writing, so I guess we’re looking for you and you should have sent us a mail yesterday.

As part of the job, our reporters are responsible for ongoing coverage of the various areas of technology in the country and the world, a review of the latest gadget just before it hits the general market, exposing the most interesting startups in Israel and dictating the agenda of the technology community in the country.

Requirements:

  • Gadgets, Internet startups and technology in general is not something that only interest you, it’s something you live.

  • Hebrew as a mother tongue – a must

  • English – a must

  • Previous experience in writing – required.

  • Ability to work in a team.

  • Available for a full-time job – working at Ramat Hachayal, Tel Aviv.

  • Willingness to work outside normal working hours.
