Israeli Startup N-Tring, developer of touch screens and pen styluses completes a $4.5M funding round. The current financing round brought together over 12 different separate investors adding to an $11.4M round closed earlier this year.
In total the company has accumulated some $99M in investment from well known firms including Canaan Partners, Evergreen Venture Partners, Microsoft and others.
Technology in the palm of your hand
N-Trig’s touchscreen and stylus technology can be found in a variety of smartphones, tablets and Ultrabooks produced by their portfolio of A-list partners which includes HP, Dell, Asus, Lenovo, HTC, Toshiba and others.
Strategic cooperation between the Israeli startup and Microsoft allowed for N-Trig to take advantage of Microsoft’s new operating system in Windows 8, a system well disposed to N-Trig’s touch screen tech. In fact, the technology of N-Trig can be found today in a variety of computers running the operating system in question, such as the Asus Taichi and Stylistic Q702.
One of the key technologies N-Trig is working with is DuoSense, which is in essence the technology behind the integrated stylus pen. N-Trig made use of its vast experience with styluses in order to craft a product with a natural and familiar feeling similar to the experience of putting pen to paper. The company does this through the use of an advanced pressure sensor along with touch recognition pads that prevents involuntary clicks on the screen itself.
Along with its support for windows 8 the company is also introducing a variety of Android system support screens ranging from 4.5 inches to 15.6 inches. While the company was unable to penetrate the market through leading mobile device manufactures such as Apple and Samsung it still holds a significant market share in the equipment business targeting organizations and schools.
N-Trig was founded in 1999 by Meir Morag. Its corporate offices are located in Kfar Saba, Israel. While Israel is the home of N-Trig’s management, marketing and R&D departments, the company also holds several offices around the world including in North America, Japan, Taiwan and China. The company employs about 200 workers in total, most of whom are located in Israel.
