The winners of the contest were EatWith, winning 4 million euro in advertising time, followed by MediSafe, and TinyTap, winning 2 million and 1 million respectively
At the end of SevenVentures Pitch Day (7VPD), three winning startups walked away with 7 million Euro in media time.
The event, held in Tel Aviv, featured seven up-and-coming startups – selected from an initial pool of over 80 contestants – who pitched their ideas in front of an international audience, and a jury that included Fiverr CEO Micha Kaufmann, Managing Partner of Magma Venture Partners Yahal Zilka, and Liat Aaronson, Executive Director of Entrepreneurship program at IDC Herzliya.
The winners of the contest were EatWith, winning 4 million euro in advertising time, followed by MediSafe, and TinyTap, winning 2 million and 1 million respectively. These three startups were selected by the jury and audience for demonstrating the greatest chance to make an impact on the European market.
A media package to wet the appetite of the European market
EatWith, founded by Guy Michlin and Shemer Schwartz, is a marketplace where individuals can offer authentic local dining experiences, in their homes enabling tourists and visitors to experience new cultures and cuisine on a more intimate level – Time describes them as “essentially the Airbnb for the restaurant industry.”
MediSafe is a medication management app, which encourages patients to take their medications on time with the help of reminders and notifications sent to family members. Additionally, by removing personal information and then analyzing the data, insight can be gleaned regarding the behavior patterns of patients as a whole allowing for more effective methods to be developed in the future, which will in turn increase the health of patients and reduce costs for pharmacies and healthcare providers. In third place was TinyTap, which allows educators to create personalized learning apps and share them with a worldwide community of students.
The event and venture behind it are the project of ProSiebenSat.1 Group, German’s largest television network. The group invests in young companies by providing them with advertising time and the services of its creative and digital agencies to create advertising campaigns geared towards those time slots. Kevin Baxpehler, the head of ProSiebenSat. 1’s Israel Office explained the company’s selection of EatWith as the first-place winner: “EatWith is a fantastic company that has been able to create a whole new dining experience. The startup is successfully scaling its offering and operations internationally, which makes it a perfect candidate to work with us,” he explained. “The 4 million euro in TV advertising will have a significant impact for EatWith’s market entry in Europe’s largest market, not only driving traffic, hosts and customers to its site but most importantly, helping to build its brand.”
