$60,000 Investment prize up for grabs… and going up!

The International Startup Festival– the largest Startup event in Canada- has announced that the iconic Azrieli Tower in Tel Aviv has been selected as the second stop on their Elevator World Tour.

Stopping on Israel’s investment floor

CaptureOn December 18th, 100 Israeli startups will be selected to pitch to a group of international angel investors, and compete for an investment prize of up to $100,000.

Each Startup will get one minute to pitch to the investors in the circular Azrieli Tower elevator. We do elevator pitches in an actual elevator, while hosting a large-scale party at the top.

Investor judges include Jamie O’Hara, director of New York based Grise Global Group, Montreal’s Howard Stotland (Founder of STS Systems), Mayer Gniwisch (Founder of ice.com) and Danny Knafo (Calidus Capital Corp), who have all founded and sold technology companies for hundreds of millions of dollars. Roy Oron, General Partner of Israeli based Plus Ventures has also joined as an investor and judge in the competition. The group of seasoned judges will award the investment prize to one winner at the end of the pitching sessions.

“Israel is THE Startup Nation, cultivating thousands of successful startups,” said Philippe Telio, founder and producer of the International Startup Festival and Elevator World Tour. “Take Onavo for example, which recently celebrated a lucrative exit. Onavo was the 2011 winner of our pitch competition in Montreal, and partnering with forward thinking cities such as Tel Aviv is a part of our innovative approach to finding the next big thing.”

Israeli Startups can apply to pitch before Nov 29th at http://www.elevatorworldtour.com/apply-to-pitch.html

The first-ever Elevator World Tour took place at the CN Tower in Toronto this year. Tel Aviv has been selected as the second stop on the tour with several cities slated for 2014 including Rio de Janeiro, NYC, Barcelona, Paris, Berlin, Dubai and Santiago.

The winner of the Elevator World Tour in Tel Aviv will secure- in addition to the investment prize- an opportunity to pitch in Montreal at the International Startup Festival and compete for the title of world champion!
